Sunday we parted ways with Carol, Erik and Megan for most of the day, for Paul to catch up on some work at the hotel. In the evening, we were blessed to visit another Hong Kong Lutheran landmark – Church of All Nations. This endeavor of the LCMS was created in 1961 in Repulse Bay, at that time an isolated stretch of coast along the southern end of Hong Kong island. That relatively unoccupied area would, over the next 60 years, develop into the most expensive zip code in the world, with one particular neighborhood sheltering at least 19 billionaires! I can kind of understand why.

Rev. Joel Sheiwe took us to dinner after a short worship service. We were joined – in an fascinating Holy Spirit connection – with two pastors from the Lutheran Church in the Philippines! They were in Hong Kong to celebrate the 35th anniversary of an outreach to the sizable Filipino community in Hong Kong. It was great to be with two brothers in Christ from a fellow Lutheran church body!

Dinner was great – I think my expression had to do with getting my thumb on the right area of my phone to snap the photo!
The day concluded with a bit of excitement. Megan and Erik were set to depart Hong Kong Monday morning at 9:00 am. However they received word their flight had been cancelled! Erik was able to get them rebooked on a flight about nine hours early – just after midnight Sunday night/Monday morning. I quickly arranged transportation for them to the airport and they began the long trip home.
Once we had word they were checked in and ready for their flight, our official work in Hong Kong came to an end. We departed on Tuesday (since we needed to ensure Megan & Erik departed successfully from Hong Kong), and I think both we and Carol were happy to have a bit of rest after the busy-ness of the previous days.
