After enjoying a time of fellowship and food after worship at Peace, we jumped in the car and started driving. A couple of hours later we found ourselves right on the Canadian border – almost literally – in the quaint little fishing town of Blaine, Washington. There we were invited to join Sunday afternoon/evening worship with Grace Lutheran Church. Pastor Aaron Zuch and his wife Kelly greeted us before the worship, and it was a wonderful way to draw Sunday to a close, worshiping with yet another group of brothers and sisters in Christ.

Home Service is not vacation. We know that. But Home Service is also not a complete separation from the work going on back in Asia. Particularly as an Area Facilitator, I have to keep up on my responsibilities in interfacing with church partners as well as deployed staff I’m responsible for.
Thus, there are meetings. And while I’m blessed to have fewer meetings than my boss does, there are still meetings to keep up on. After finishing worship, I jumped on my phone for what turned out to be a 2-hour Zoom meeting. Fortunately, for the first hour or so of that, Pastor Zuch and his wife entertained my wife with dinner down by the waterfront, where they enjoyed a local specialty – baked oysters. Although I missed out on this delicacy, I was able to be somewhat helpful in my meeting. Hopefully.
It was a beautiful day filled with beautiful scenery. A reminder of God’s goodness to us in his creation. Truly a good shepherd.
