After my time in the Philippines I flew directly to Singapore for a meeting with Bishop Lu, head of the Lutheran Church in Singapore (LCS). He has been a friendly face and welcoming friend over the last few years and it was good to reconnect with him again to talk about how things with the LCS and his family are going.
It also gave me an opportunity for a final 2024 worship gathering with the folks in Singapore. It was a slightly sad occasion. Annabelle, the young intern from the US who arrived last July requested to return home early and complete here internship virtually. She had already relocated back to the States. And it will be the last time (for the time being of course) that I’ll see Amy. She is leaving her research position in Singapore to start a new stage of life, first back in Taiwan, and afterwards, who knows!?

Johan was able to join us with his son and Johanna happened to be in town as well to round out the group.
That was Sunday morning. So I stayed overnight and then Monday morning, ran into these hoodlums:

As part of the All Asia Family Retreat 2024 in Taiwan, our kids were able to make the journey from the US back to Asia. I was able to meet them at the airport in Singapore Monday morning and then travel back to Medan with them. What a happy reunion!
They successfully navigated their first trans-oceanic air journey without Gena or I along, and of course they aced it! The flight back to Medan was blessedly short in comparison, and there was much celebration and joy for Gena as well as Kahlua, our beloved pooch. In short order I was informed of the necessity for a family selfie. I disagreed, but was outvoted.

Like many of the other introverts in our family, Kahlua has developed a phobia of phones and photos, so she was not cooperative. However, the general impression of familial merriment is conveyed adequately all the same, I think.

Great picture of a fabulous family…..wonderful smiling faces!
