Reconnecting in KL

For those who live and work and travel in Southeast Asia, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is just KL. Short and sweet, despite the sprawling massiveness of the city. This is my portal to the rest of Southeast Asia and I know the airport almost better than the shape of my house in Medan. This time, because of my lighter travel schedule, I was able to stop and spend some time with James.

James is, like many recently-graduated 20-somethings, in the throes of figuring out what happens after you finish your college degree. He’s currently teaching at a Christian university, something he enjoys but is struggling to find peace in. Learning a new trade is difficult and teaching is a high-profile work, always under the scrutiny not just of staff and administration but students as well. He’ll have some evaluations in the coming weeks, but administration seems committed to assisting him in growing into his role, which is a nice attitude to have and one you don’t often find!

We discussed the Saturday evening Bible study group and the falloff in interest over the past few months. We’d like to find another way of trying to engage people. Perhaps not weekly, but twice a month or maybe only once a month or once every-other month. Something that engages them more. There’s talk of a podcast but neither one of us have the technical skills to put that together just now. So please pray the Spirit will guide us to a good use of our time and talents to continue to share the Word of God with the Christian community in KL.
