Today we were privileged to join in worship at the local Lutheran congregation Nomin serves – Good News Lutheran Church.

The building is apparently old, but as is typical with many old churches, the measure of the place should be taken on the inside, not the outside!

Between 30-50 people gather for worship each Sunday, and there are a lot of kids included in that number. Before worship Nomin offers another Bible study. Two ladies attend faithfully, and each has a small notebook full of neat and carefully written notes. I thought it was so beautiful, I had to take a photo.

Nomin preached. There was no Holy Communion this day, but rather preparations for a large youth event later in the afternoon, when shoeboxes of gifts would be distributed to neighborhood children. I remember filling such shoe boxes in my last congregation, and it was wonderful to glimpse a bit of the excitement from the recipients!
We finished the day with lunch at Nomin & Oyuna’s home, and we got to see another style of Mongolian residence, an apartment building. Their family is warm and kind, and their older two children speak excellent English!
