Foros are supposed to bring partner organizations together with LCMS OIM and partner church leadership to hear about the goals and strategies of the partner church, and then to determine how partner organizations might be able to bring resources to bear to assist in achieving those goals. The partner church drives everything. However for this first Asian Foro we didn’t have partners present, instead treating this more as a learning opportunity for our OIM Asia staff and our partner church, the Lutheran Church in the Philippines (LCP).
We started at 9:00am Friday morning with worship. President Reyes of the LCP led us in morning worship and a homily based on the theme of partnering together so that the Lord might make use of us. A good perspective to keep in mind – our plans are what they are, but the Holy Spirit is the one who will direct things to His purposes and ends in alignment with God the Father’s plan.
In the afternoon we did get to see Lutheran Heritage Foundation’s new offices & reading room based at the LCP headquarters in Manila.
