Home Service Planning

It’s hard to believe that it’s time to start planning for our next Home Service in 2026.

Every two years (or three years in unusual circumstances) overseas workers return to the US to visit their partners in ministry. Six weeks of visiting with partner congregations and individuals, and two weeks of reconnecting with family and taking care of the necessary things to keep serving overseas – renewing drivers licenses and other legal documents, getting updated credit cards that are about to expire – that sort of exciting thing!

Our expectation is we will return to the States after Easter – probably mid April. We’ll be in the US until mid-June, when we need to be in Germany for our Asia Regional Gathering in Wittenberg. As in 2024, our home base will be in the Phoenix area. We know we will be making trips to southern California and the Midwest around St. Louis. But we have lots of unplanned time at this point, and would love to pay a visit to your congregation if we’re able!

Please contact me if you’d like to inquire about us visiting your congregation. Most likely it would just be Gena and I, though it’s possible some number of our kids might be able to come as well. Typically, congregations want us to visit on Sunday mornings. We’re happy to, of course, but there are a very limited number of Sunday mornings in our Home Service. If we could visit mid-week for Bible studies, Confirmation classes, LWML or men’s group meetings, that would be wonderful. We’re happy to speak to youth groups, Lutheran grade schools, and pretty much anyone else. We smell nice and we’re low maintenance!

We hope we can visit your congregation, whether you’ve seen us before or whether this would be a first time visit. Pastors, I’m also happy to come and speak at Winkels and other gatherings of local pastors in your area.

We’ll post more information as plans begin to solidify, but please pray the Holy Spirit will use our time in the US to faithfully share about the opportunities to serve overseas or support the work of others who are already doing so.
