It was a blessing today to be present for the installation of Rev. Dr. Walter Steele in his capacity as a faculty member at Lutheran Theological Seminary (LTS) in Baguio, Philippines. LTS is the seminary of the Lutheran Church in the Philippines (LCP), one of our oldest and strongest church partners in Asia. Rev. Steele remains part of the deployed staff of LCMS Office of International Mission Asia (OIM Asia), and the Philippines – including but not limited to LTS – is his field of service. His wife Robyn also serves OIM Asia in a part-time capacity as a nutritionist while working towards the completion of her deaconess certification through Concordia Theological Seminary – Ft. Wayne.

Rev. Steele is already set up in an office on the second floor (just above the chapel shown in the photo above, a blessing from the LCP and LTS to assist him. He will begin teaching a full-time load of four courses with the start of Term 2 (out of three, annually) in November.
What a blessing it is to assist in facilitating the Steele’s transition to Asia from the Africa Region. Please pray for the Holy Spirit’s continued strength and joy as they make Baguio their home and settle in to serve and be served in myriad ways. Already Rev. Steele is coordinating a seminar on trauma care for LCP church workers in the southern Philippine islands, in the wake of a series of brutal earthquakes.
