Supporting Staff

A large chunk of my responsibilities as an Area Facilitator (AF) is to be the main connection between our deployed staff in the Region and Regional leadership as well as leadership back in St. Louis. In that capacity I’ve been involved with assisting Rev. Dr. Walter Steele and his wife Robyn, who decided to transition from serving in Africa to serving in Asia as they look towards retirement down the road. Their experience is ideal for serving in the Philippines, where Rev. Steele can put his experience with seminary work to Africa to good work assisting the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Baguio. Robyn is half-way through her deaconess studies through Concordia Theological Seminary, Ft. Wayne. They will be wonderful assets to our Region and to our church partner in the Philippines!

They arrived in the Philippines at the very end of July. Now that I’m on the ground here again I can also welcome them and we can celebrate the lengthy and not uncomplicated work of transitioning service from one part of the world to another.

We strategized a bit over lunch. Please pray the Steeles adjust smoothly to their new locale, as they intend to be here for many years!
