After two long days of travel, we’ve safely made it to Phoenix from Medan!
Monday we flew from Medan to Singapore, with a five-hour layover in Kuala Lumpur. We arrived in time to grab a quick dinner and go to sleep. The next morning we were at Changi International Airport in Singapore to board our flight from Singapore to San Francisco. This is the first time we’ve crossed the Pacific without stopping in Japan along the way. It was a 14-hour flight, but seemed worthwhile to skip the transit in Japan. Then it was a seven-hour layover in San Francisco before our final 90-minute flight to Phoenix.
We’re recovering from jet lag, normally about a 5-day process for us. Tired in the mornings and evenings but fine during the day, which is a blessing!
The exciting news at this point (other than our safe travel!) is that we’ve begun the process of securing a place for our boys to live. Neither of them will be returning with Gena and I to Medan, meaning we’ll deal with the transition of being empty-nesters on the other side of the world. God-willing, we’ll have the peace of mind of knowing the boys are settled in a good spot, close to family, and already working and moving towards their next goals. An exciting but emotionally draining time to be sure!
Thank you for your prayers for safe travel. We hope to see many of you during our travels in the coming two months. But for now we have the opportunity to recover and celebrate Holy Week in Arizona before our first round of travels start on April 2. We are blessed to have partners like you holding us up in prayer as we handle both professional and personal matters during these next two months!
