Teaching in Manila

This week I am in Manila. Well, I’m in Manila part of the week. I arrived Sunday and depart Thursday for Singapore. I have been invited to teach for the Lutheran Church in the Philippines’ (LCP) 25th National Convention. It’s the first time they’ve been able to meet together as an entire church body since before Covid. In fact, their last National Convention was in 2017!

They’ve asked me to teach two times over two days on their theme verse of 2 Timothy 4:2 – Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke and exhort with great patience and careful instruction. I’ll spend one session on 2 Timothy as a whole to provide context and then the second session will emphasize the theme verse and how it applies to the life of pastors today.

It’s great to see how happy everyone is to see each other after such a long hiatus. Everyone is friendly and this is one place in all my travels where I feel I’m beginning to form relationships and make connections with people. That’s very nice!

They have a lot of work to do the next three days, but I’m grateful for the invitation to bring the Word to them and continue their lifelong process of growing in their work as preachers of the Word.
