Graduation!

Today was a special day for our family. Everyone (except Paul!) graduated from language school! Although I had to drop out after the core program (6 units of study), the rest of the family continued for the final 3 units. Their studies culminated in a 2000-word research paper and oral presentation – all in bahasa Indonesia.

They put hours and hours of work into their projects, interviewing multiple people, organizing the information and writing it. Mika and Caedmon both utilized PowerPoint presentations as well – something we were told by staff was a first for the school.

In the photo above, the man in front in the red shirt and his wife on the far right are married and own and run our language school. We can’t begin to describe how helpful they have been both linguistically and personally since our arrival in February 2022. Their dedication to their students’ success is comprehensive and a beautiful witness of Christian love. Others in the photo are teachers who have also become family friends.

A new chapter begins for our family. Lots of transitions as focus shifts from language to applying those skills in further relationship building in the community. More on that tomorrow though. Thank you for your prayers of support for us all through this first 16-months in Indonesia. Please keep praying!
