I was pleasantly surprised to have time with Bishop Lawrence, head of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Malaysia (ELCM) today. While we have been in touch via e-mail, this is our first in-person meeting in almost a year.
During our time together we discussed the possibility of restarting deaconess training in Malaysia, something that has been dormant since pre-Covid. There’s also the possibility of doing some pastoral training in February and July of next year during the ELCM pastoral gatherings. It was an exciting step forward, and a reminder that sometimes seeds are planted that take a while to sprout. That’s a valuable lesson for someone like me who tends to operate on fast-forward most of the time!
Please pray for the ELCM as they welcome a new leadership council into place in August, and then for their planning for the coming year including these training opportunities.
