I flew from Kuala Lumpur (KL) to Singapore today. As a tangential note, it’s fun learning new airport codes on this side of the world! While I still think that Phoenix has the best airport name in the world (Sky Harbor International Airport – how cool is that?!!??!), airport codes are a bit less sexy. In airport codes I’m flying today from KUL to SIN.
It’s a quick visit – flying in Thursday evening and flying out Saturday. It’s quick because I don’t have any appointments with the Lutheran Church of Singapore Bishop this time. I’m scouting a new location for gatherings in Singapore and hopefully having time to meet with some of our folks who live in Singapore. There won’t be worship this time as nearly all of them have other plans for Friday evening.
It’s a 1-hour flight from KUL to SIN. An important part of my responsibility as a good partner serving the church overseas and traveling regularly is to ensure I’m not spending too much on my travel. This time, the national airline of Malaysia came in with the best price for the round-trip journey to SIN. Their service is a little nicer than some of the budget airlines I fly at other times, and from day to day prices can fluctuate and different airlines end up being less expensive than at other times.

It was a nice day to fly, and I’m grateful to continue building relationships and updating logistics in Singapore.
